About the club
Adventurers Toastmasters
Who we are
A friendly Toastmasters club beside the Van Nuys Airport. Visitors are always welcome — no reservation needed.
The charter goes back to 1989: two members from Distinguished Singles Toastmasters, then a three-time top club in Toastmasters International, started this one. They set their own goals and made their own fun; the generations after them left the club one of the more outstanding in its district. Members come from all walks of life.
The reputation has held throughout: friendly, welcoming and supportive. The club's stated values are diversity, mutual respect and encouragement, self-improvement, and friendship.
Some club moments
Ribbon nights, contest wins and the club room beside the airport — all real, all recent history, all published with the members' agreement.

What "Adventurers" means to us
The name comes with a legend: the founding crowd went white-water rafting together every summer, and by their own telling, some of those runs nearly flipped. The reason the name still fits is simpler, though: this is a club for people who treat speaking like an adventure — you board not knowing exactly how you'll land, and you come back braver than you took off.
How the club runs
Elected member officers run the club — a president, a Vice President Education who plans speech assignments, and a handful of others. Dues, the meeting calendar, and everything official belong to the club; Toastmasters International supplies the education program.
Affiliation
Adventurers Toastmasters is a member club of Toastmasters International, a nonprofit educational organization. Our site and our identity are the club's own; we follow Toastmasters International's program and its member-club practices.
